I am having a problem based on a comment that I made. It seems that the response is way out of proportion to the comment. Pray that God takes charge of that problem plus all others. I am bowed down and brought low BUT my eyes are still on God and on the gift of my salvation which was purchased through the shed blood of Christ. On June 7, 1999, I fell over a barrel planter while carrying my sleeping bag to my van and suffered a
fracture/dislocation of my left proximal humerus. The doctor said he had never seen such a severe fracture on someone my age, and that due to my age (43) and the type of job I do (correctional officer) he didn't want to do surgery to repair it. So we have just been doing physical therapy. Because of the danger involved in my job, he hasn't let me go back to work. Today he said I could go back to a job somewhere, but not as an officer. The arm is still not up in the socket right, and is weak and unstable. I have an Associate's Degree in Secretarial Sciences with Wordprocessing Option, but at the moment, there are no other state jobs I'm qualified for that I could transfer into that are close to where I live. I have been living on short-term disability, which is provided by my state agency, and will have to go on long-term disability soon, and apply for vocational rehabilitation and SSI. Please pray that a job will open up for me soon with the state, so I can keep the benefits I've had for the past five years, or that the Lord will lead me into an even better job. Thanks!

Update 11-30-99: Leon has not had any further vison problems but appeared to have some confusion mentally today. (This is an update on my father-in-law, Leon Pruet, who had a stroke on November 10. He is still in the hospital but has been making slow but steady progress. However, it now appears that he is having transient visual loss which could be a precursor to permanent visual loss. Doris shares an update on her job situation:
I went to the agency and because of what are considered to be low grades the lady at the agency said that she couldn't place me in a job as a researcher, instead I would have to go out and take my own chances. Instead, she sent me over to a place where I would do clerical work. It's a nice environment and good benefits, but the pay is low (especially for a college grad). I feel so discouraged because that was
not what I studied for and I don't want to waste my time there. I have sent out resumés and nothing. I know that I would make a good researcher no matter what those grades say. Please pray that God would
make a way for me somehow. If somehow this clerical job is in His plan then that He speaks to me LOUD and CLEAR to accept it. Also keep my sister Carmen in prayer as she too needs a job.

In occupational therapy they ran over his toe and it is all black and blue and bleeding. (Update: Continues to be some slow improvement but still in hospital and must regain substantial use of leg and arm to be able to return home instead of going to nursing home. Must continue to have someone in the room with him at all times.) (Org req 11-10-99: My father-in-law, Leon Pruet had a stroke Wednesday morning and his condition is worse than originally thought. The Doctor now says he had a significant stroke. Leon is still confused and speech is garbled when trying to say anything in a sentence. Right side is still without feeling.) I have been corresponding with someone who's trying to convince her friend that she should not have an abortion. She sent me this today and it looks rather hopeless. This woman does not understand the consequences of simply disposing of this baby and I am helpless to do anything but talk to her friend. If enough people pray I'm sure it will stop her from going to that abortion clinic tomorrow morning. If her heart could just be touched where adoption may become an option and another innocent soul not be lost. Please pray for her!!

Praise report from Lavern Winter:
I have a wonderful praise report. I have been on medical leave since July because of my back. The surgery I had in early September has made a tremendous improvement and I have healed in a remarkably short period of time. It was expected that I would not be able to go back to work until after the first of the year. During my time off from work the function of my job was moved to another entity. I was informed that a job similar to mine was open and I applied for it on Nov 7th. I interviewed on Thursday this past week and felt that I would probably be hired and the starting pay was a range beginning about $4000/year
more than my current job. I was offered the job the next day at a salary of almost $7000/year more than I had been earning. The benefits are better too. I start the 29th. God is so good, praise His name, His
mercy endures forever.

Please pray for Christians being persecuted for their faith in Laos. 46 Lao Christians are in prison for their faith. Some are locked in stocks in primitive cells. Hmong Christians living near Vidntiane, the capitol, are being forced to sign affidavits pledging to forsake the faith.

Johnny is about the same.... he gives out real easily because of all the heart damage, so he is having to be careful what he does. The dr. does not want him to pick up anything over 5 lbs. & he cannot lift or pull on anything or climb ladders, etc. He also cannot use power tools because it puts too much strain on the heart, especially when it is as damaged as Johnny's. He doesn't feel good enough to do these things anyway, so it isn't really a problem. We are learning to live with "life-style" changes & the disabilities. We are just thankful he is still alive!! That is the most important thing in all the world to us! Keep us in your prayers for our financial needs also. God is taking care of us, one day at a time, & that is all we can ask for!!
PASTOR JD MORRIS is home, but is not doing real good. I got a letter from Sonya last night. Bro. JD had to get more blood yesterday as the red count was low and all the other counts are low too. Nothing is coming up like it should. The doctor wants to do another bone marrow test next week to see how it has changed since a few weeks ago. Pastor Morris has been on the high dose Neupogen shots 2 times a day. His leg might be slightly better... he has a little more movement in it, but the infection is still there. They increased the dosage of the antibiotic that he gets by IV up to twice a day. Sonya is giving him his shots every day, but we don't know why the White Blood Count is not coming up. That concerns the Doctors very much. They must see an increase in those Blood Counts! If you would like to send an email message to Pastor Morris, I will be glad to send it to him.

Diane Wisniewski. Di (as we affectionately call her at work) was diagnosed with ovarian cancer over
2 years ago. She had a hysterectomy then followed by extensive chemotherapy. Then she had a reoccurrence a year ago in Sept. 1998, had another surgery followed by chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant. It really wore her out! Now she has a cancerous spot on a lymph node near her
kidney. They are going to treat her with radiation. She has also been having trouble with her back and leg, which may be related to the cancer.

My husband Carl has been out of work for over 11 months now. We are near the end of our (apparent) financial rope (have been before...or so I thought. I'm not sure where the end is anymore!). However, He has been faithful...ONE DAY AT A TIME! Just think, nearly a year with marginal income...and I only had to pay one bill slightly late, and that soon made up! Everything is current, although I have no idea how the bills that come next month will be paid. None. He is awesome! "Thank you Lord, for your FAITHFULNESS to Your errant children!" Carl is a non-Christian, and this whole experience has spoken of the Lord's care for him. However, Carl does have a very strong job possibility that may pan out VERY soon. I am hoping to having good news to report by Thanksgiving!

I fell and broke my ankle and have a cast and fell completely useless at this time. thank god I have my husband to care for me at night. A few months ago I had asked for prayer for my neice Arianne who had kidney problems. Praise God, the doctors did other exams and found that there is no damage, very minimal reflux, and might just be able to
outgrow this condition. She still has to be on antibiotics for the rest of the year and has other exams to check her progress so please keep her in prayer. Also, my cousin Stephanie came out of the hospital this week (she had asthma), but has to take some treatments still. Please keep her sibblings and Mom in prayer.

Johnny is still having lots of chest pains & taking Nitro pills. They help the angina pains, but he still gets the headaches. He has felt really bad the past 2 days & is having lots of dizziness now. Johnny is going through some depression & the Cardiologist says this is normal in his case, since he has worked all his life & this is quite a change for him. They cannot do anything else surgically for him and I believe this is one reason he is depressed and worrying over our finances. We are praying for his disability & it will be the last of January when it starts.
PASTOR J.D. MORRIS CAME HOME FROM THE HOSPITAL ON FRIDAY, NOV. 12th. He is not doing very well. He has a bad "staph" infection and his blood count is very low. His fever is down to 99 now. They put a tube in his arm for the Home Health Care nurse to draw blood every day. Sonya had to learn how to give Bro. JD 2 shots each day to help build up his blood count & he also has to take an IV of antibiotics every day. His right leg is very stiff from the infection. He goes back to the doctor on Tuesday for more blood. He has been getting 2 pints every other day.

My niece, Hope Nicole Russell, was born November 11 around 4:30a.m. She weighed 1pound 6 oz. and is 12 inches long and has a head full of black hair. She was not due until February 17, 2000.
She needs your prayers for she is fighting for her life. She is on a respirator to help her breathe, this morning my brother said she has a hole in each lung and one lung collapsed yesterday so they have run tubes in both lungs to keep the fluid out. Also, they are giving her medication. Her heart has a whole in it which it allowing the blood to go in the lungs. Her heart has been strong and she has a good chance of survival. Please pray for her and her Mom and Dad.

I am writing to update you on a prayer request I've made a couple of times for a little boy named Cody. To make a long story short,Cody is in the foster care of a couple in my church.When they got him he had a broken arm( I believe from being pushed down the stairs at 6 months of age) had had a fractured skull a couple months before that, and visible cigarette burns on his body.Now, the child protection agency( or whomever is in charge of all this) is still considering giving him back to his mother.This is after 1 1/2
years.He will be 2 in Dec.There is already a couple in our church lined up to adopt him, and he could immediately have a loving Christian home with people he knows.The descision is supposed to be made this month as to wether or not he goes back to his mother.Please pray that God will protect and deliver Cody from the horrible life he may have.And please pray that God will give wisdom to the people that will be making decsisions about his life. my husband, Johnny had 2 heart attacks and heart surgery in July. He is unable to go back to work because he has so much heart damage he is unable to do any type work at all. The Cardiologist says the risks are too high that he can suffer a massive heart attack at any time. "Stress & family heredity" are the 2 reasons he had the 2 heart attacks. The dr. is having him put on disability through the power company my husband worked for... Johnny has been with the company for 31 yrs. & was looking forward to retirement at 55 yrs. old. He is only 53, so he cannot draw his retirement until he is 65 since he is going on disability.

My friend Samantha Fondaw and I went on a missions trip to the Dominican Republic this summer with our youth group. While there, she got bitten by sand fleas and they laid eggs in her system. The rest of us are fine but now these eggs have hatched out and the larvae are eating her alive.
She was undergoing experimental therapy which has never been used in the U.S. before. It is a type of chemo therapy and was making her heart stop beating for 8 seconds at a time. She just got out of ICU for this. They are stopping this therapy and considering one other option but they are still not sure if it will work because once again is experimental. PLEASE pray for her. She is only 16 years old and shouldn't have to die for doing God's work, especially this early in life.

(Need prayer for:) Shelly's recovery from an aneurysm that has left her helpless, she is 33 yrs old and has 2 young daughters, and her husband my nephew is have a hard time accepting it and has had to take a leave of absence from work. Carolyn's headaches, pressure sores on her heals, born with spina bifida, going to college in a wheelchair, having a hard time with getting tutors to help with her studies. Being LD... In the past, my fellow subscribers to the Burning Bush have helped pray for my Dad as he encountered health problems. He is doing fairly well, but still suffers the effects of the stroke. Last Friday, we received upsetting news that my sister had been involved in a serious wreck. She was driving a Volvo and was hit
on the driver's side. It totaled the Volvo which is a very sturdy vehicle. She has broken bones in her pelvis and her tailbone was also broken. She lives in Richmond, VA, but the wreck happened in Greenville, NC. She is due to be transferred from the hospital in Greenville to one in Richmond tomorrow. She has been in terrible pain and the morphine is making her sick. I'd appreciate it if everyone would lift her up in your prayers. First, I'd like for you to pray that she will have a safe and comfortable ambulance ride from Greenville to Richmond. Then, I'd like for you to pray that she will receive complete recovery
from her injuries. Also, I'd appreciate it if you lift up my parents. This is very difficult for them emotionally and physically. Thanks in advance to everyone for your prayers. PRAYER REALLY DOES CHANGE THINGS!

God has been granting us blessings and small daily miracles over the past few weeks; but following two terrifying nightmares that brought back all the emotions, fears, and doubts of our issues -- I could not shake it and instead spewed Satan's doubts, fears, frustration, anger, and ugliness in words to my husband. I know he is angry, hurt and confused, since he is truly trying to change life patterns and habits for the betterment of our family and marriage.
Now I am feeling lower than low at the damage I inflicted on my already hurting husband, our fragile marriage and I am praying God will be able to restore us back to His loving forgiving care; but I know I don't deserve a second chance this time. Hi All: My life right now is HORRIBLE!!! I HATE LIVING and everything is going extremely badly right now!!! My job isn't working out! I HATE going everyday but until my sister finds a job I HAVE to stay there!! I am being treated diferetly due to my vision problem and I asked the boss if i could get paid more and she said NO! I get paid by the dog and sometimes I work my butt off for only 12 or 16 dollars a WHOLE DAY!!!!!! Would any of you work your butt off for that little amount? I hate going to work there is also th boss playing favorites too!! And "I"M not one of them!!!!! I am seriously at the end of my life's rope and thinking of kicking the chair away so I will be left to just hang and die!! I am sorry but I am not willing to get emails right now!! Please continue to pray for my sister-in-law and her husband and children. A few weeks ago I asked for prayer for Becky & John because John had become addicted to the pain meds he has been given. The
situation has continued to deteriorate. John has stopped attending support group meetings and has started drinking and taking drugs. Becky's oldest child, Justin, has begun to have emotional problem
related the family problems in general. My other sister-in-law, Becky's sister, and her husband live in the area and he is a recently ordained minister. He went to the hospital to see Justin and pray for him. He rebuked the spirit that had taken control of the child and the boy immediately settled down. However, he remained in the hospital and apparently social services have been brought into the picture. Please pray for this family. They are Christians, but, Satan has really been attacking them and trying to destroy that family.

Dear Prayer Warriors, Please pray for a dear sister in the Lord who is a young mom suffering with her frail body full of cancer tumors... She had surgery last Monday and they did a double colostomy and last night (Wed) she took a turn for the worst... her temp went way up and pulse was very high... they took her into ICU and the doctors are now only giving her a week... She has with what little voice she has asked for prayer... Please pray for her. We have serve a Mighty Lord who is the Divine Healer of all and with a touch of his scared hands HE can heal and restore each and every cancer cell and return them to normal... By Faith we are to believe for His Will in these matters and Trust Him... So by His stripes... I am believing in Him and now ask for others to join with me in this agreement on earth... I would like to ask each of you to put my mother, Wanda Benson, in your prayers. Her doctor has found a mass in each breast and from early test it looks like cancer. A biopsy is scheduled for next week to determine if it is malignant or not. I pray for God's mercy and intervention in this matter to heal her or allow the situation to be a benign cyst at worst. Johnny is about the same....but I am better, Praise the Lord! God has really touched me and my back is improving each day. Johnny is having lots of chest pains & taking more Nitro pills for the pains. They help the chest pains, but still give him a horrible headache. Today, when we went for our 1/2-mile walk, we had to stop... Johnny gave out on me. He is not doing good at all and the surgeons say there is nothing else they can do for him.

Margie - She's having some difficulty right now suffering with Shingles. But - she had a scan a week ago and the results were again positive. The tumor has shrunken more and is now only about 1 to 1-1/2 inches in size. A month ago it was about the size of an apricot. Next week she'll meet with her doctor and we'll discuss where we go from here. There is talk of surgery so now I'll ask you for prayers. The tumor is located in a dangerous region so surgery has been out of the question in the past....

Alma shares update on situation with volcano in Quito, Ecuador:
Just a small note to thank you all for your prayers, the situation here is better than some days before.
The magma started to come out 2 days ago, but very slowly, no explotions, no noise and in a small quantity. The activity at the volcano is high, but nothing dangerous is happening. So I think that God is listening to His people once again. We are hopeful in God that nothing big will happen now. The city is still paralized waiting, but although we might be worried, we are not scared anymore and that is God's Grace and Love going on around this world.

She hit my friend, Jan, in the head (Jand has had a stroke and currently has heart problems), hit another diabled friend, Peter, choked me, cursed me, spit on me, threatened to kill me, cut me up into little pieces and stuff me in the freezer. Pheber also beat me up; hurt my right knee very badly. I currently have a restraining order against her and have court for the long-term restraining order on 10/04/1999.

My daughter Billie has a friend named Edward "Eddie" Kirkus. Eddy's family lives in Imlay City, Michigan. Right now Eddie lives in Children's Hospital in Detroit. Eddie is only fourteen years old. He and Billie went to school together through elementary and middle school and she is very worried about him. You see, Eddie must stay in Children's until they find a new heart for him! He has machines to help him breathe and keep his going. Not only is his heart very enlarged but the top half refuses to work in sync with the lower half.

On July 8th my world came crumbling down. My Mother was diagnosed with Cancer in her spine.
She has refused all Chemotherapy and Radiation treatments, and the doctor has basically sent her home to die. She doesnt have any insurance and I (Tracy, her son) am her only caregiver. Without some sort of blessing from the Lord, I fear that our family will be ruined financially for life, and I may lose this house in which we live. Its taking its toll on my life, and my emotional well being. I work full time, between the constant job stress and watching/hearing Mom suffer is more than I can handle. We are both Christians, we gave our life to the Lord about 2 1/2 years ago. I lost my Dad to Leukemia 5 years ago, and Mom is all I have left. My emotional well being is a mess. I find myself driving out in the middle of nowhere, just so I can sit in my car and cry, because I dont want to cry at work, or here at home in front of Mom.
I pretend to be strong for her, but inside I am weak and frail emotionally and spiritually. I don't know about Mom, but this has taken its toll on my closeness with Jesus.

Some friends of ours just recently spent a couple of days in the hospital due to carbon monoxide poisoning in their home. They are okay now and are out of the hospital. Our concern now is the 8 week old baby the mother is carrying. They did a sonogram and I saw the picture of this tiny tiny baby. They said the baby still has life with a good heartbeat. Please pray for this baby to be perfectly healthy and unaffected by this.
(And we need rain for the crops!)

I received a phone call tonight from my best friend, Connie. She had called to let me know that another best friend, Lea Ann's, husband was killed in a freak accident on Friday. His services are tomorrow. Of course, I am unable to attend but I did call Lea Ann this evening. Lea Ann and Oscar have one daughter, Macy, who will be 8 on Tuesday. Connie, Lea Ann and I were inseparable throughout grade school and high school. We still see each other when I go home to visit. Lea Ann, needless to say, is devastated. I
told her tonight I would be praying for her, Macy, and their family. She thanked me and asked that I continue praying for her. This is so tragic. This is my second classmate to lose a husband young and unexpected in less than a year. Another girl I graduated with died last month. To me, this impresses the need to love those around us all we can and to reach out to others because we don't know what tomorrow brings. So my prayer request is for Lea Ann Henry, her daughter Macy, and their

Johnny went back to his Cardiologist in Anderson today and I wanted to send you an update. Dr. John Wendt consulted with the Surgeons in Greenville again and they studied Johnny's x-rays, etc. They all agree with the decision NOT to do any more surgery on him. IF they try surgery on the damaged arteries, they will cause Johnny more HARM than GOOD, with the possibility of rupturing the wall of his heart. Of course, he told Dr. Wendt he did not want surgery with these risks. We told the dr. that Johnny can walk 1/2 mile & then has to stop & rest. He told us to continue activities as he feels like it but not to
Over-Do himself. The dr. took him off the all-day acting nitro pill for angina pains, because of the severe headaches it caused. He is still taking the regular Nitro pills when he needs them. They still cause
headaches but don't last as long.
Johnny is also having a problem with "poor circulation" in his legs and feet, caused from the blocked arteries, so he will be on medicine to help that problem. He is also having "spasms" in his throat & esophogus which makes him feel like he is 'choking', so he will be on med. for this also. The Dr. gave Johnny a Flu Injection. Because of his heart damage, he definitely does not need anything else to cause added stress to his heart. Thanks for all your prayers, letters, concern and everything you have
done for us! We really do appreciate your thoughtfulness during this trying time. You all are special & we can never tell you how much we appreciate your kindness to us, but most of all, your prayers for us
mean so much. We know God will continue to supply our needs during the next 3 months, until his disability starts. God is still on the throne and still watching over the Spearmans!!

I received this letter late last night and we NEED to be in URGENT & SINCERE PRAYER for Pastor Morris & for Sonya! Thank you for being a friend we can turn to in time of need. God bless you.
JD went back to the dr. today for his blood count checks and everything was
down even more, even with him on the neupogen shots to build up the white
blood counts.
His dr. here in Gastonia sent him over to the Gaston Hospital to get 2 units
of blood and to have a bone marrow test done. We will know the results
probably tomorrow afternoon I guess. PLEASE pray that he is still in
remission, if it is the Lord's will.'He looks so pale and has no energy and
was having dizziness and pounding in his head all of which the dr. said was
from low hemoglobin. He was in the hospital until about 7:30 tonight and he
came home. I drove over and spent most of the day with him and came home.
He is laying on the couch now. We are both very concerned and I ask that
whenever you can, to please put out a note to tell people to pray for us.
His aunt died in Kernersville and they wanted him to have a part in the
funeral and he told them he could not, because he did not want to commit to
something and not be able to do it. They have their preacher, I think they
asked JD because he is a family member.We may go up tomorrow night to the
funeral home if he feels like it.
I know it is trying times with your situation and Johnny's. We still pray,
but sometimes I think the only thing we can do is just go through the things
that the Lord allows to come our way. There is no way under, around or over,
we just go through them and God gives strength.

Just a note about the kids that were involved in the flood.....
There are kids here in Pender County that are flood victims. As
important as
losing their home to them, they lost their toys. In years past I have
collected used toys for underprivileged kids at Christmas so I know how
many
used toys are just like new. If you have kids, ask them if they will go
through their used toys and see what they have that is still good. Then
box
it up and send it to me and I will get it directly to some of the kids
that
I have met in the flooded areas that really could use some toys. Maybe
some
of you might go buy some toys if you don't have kids. I'll do my part
and
get it to them. You might want to also ask your kids to ask some of
their
friends and you might also ask some of your friends too.

Hi...just to let you know...Dan was admitted to the hospital today in
ICU...We almost lost him today...They couldn't find a bloodpressure for
awhile...A little more stable now but they think he has internal
bleeding...
My husband (a non-believer) has been without a job now for over 10 months. We are at the end of our rope (financially speaking) with no where to go. He has an interview on Tues. 11/5, the first in over 5 months. Please pray that this will be the one, and that he will find favor here.
This is an update for the prayer that I have posted and all who have prayed for me. Some great things have happened and happened quickly. I got a bookkeeping position with my church, which will help with some of the financial burden, and they are having me speak with the benevolence part of the church on Saturday. I am so happy I cried with happiness on my way home and I thank and praise God for all he has done and what he will do he is a great God and can do great things. Please continue to pray for me for the reconciliation of my marriage and a change of heart of my husband and be able to put all that happened behind us and be happy once again. My ex husband molested herwhen she was three and a hlaf, and when I found out I fivorced him. My mother took custody of her away from me because she figures if he did it, then I did it too. I am happily remarried with two beautiful children, a two year old daughter and a 10 week old son. I want my daughter back so that she can come to know her brother and sister. I would like all of you lovely people to pray for my father and that side of my family. He has just gotten out of prison for a crime that I truly believe in my heart that he did not do. I am 25 and did not see my father for 15 years while he was incarcerated. I have so much love for my earthly father that I never thought would exist when I finally "met" him again. Also if anyone knows a good Christian attorney who may be willing to look over my fathers transcripts and just give an opinion, please, please let me know. Thank you for your prayers for JD & myself. JD's blood counts are down again and with that news, I can tell his Spirit drops. He has never been one to worry, but I see it in his eyes now. The only time he seems to have a spark of life is in the Pulpit preaching, for there he hides it or it goes away. JD is now on the Neupogen Shots twice a week to build the white blood count and it dropped again yesterday. We faxed the report to his doctor at The Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, but she is out of town. He
feels fairly well but is a little pale. We may be expecting something to happen too quickly from the Neupogen shots, but it is very discouraging when his blood counts should be going back up.

I haven't written much to anyone, and as far as I can see I have about 300 emails sitting here needing to be read, replied to, etc. I have tried to get to the one's that I could, and reply as much as I could with my schedule being so busy and wild between school and work. God has blessed me in both those areas that I coudl work so few days and make enough to live on and support my daughter, and that I really have already passed the class even before the mid term and finals. But as of my writing this, and it has only
gotten worse in the past week, I really can't see much. The MS is taking my vision and nothing I do seems to be helping it. I tried several times to contact my neurologist, and never got a returned call, so I just started self medicating myself, and praying that something would change. Driving down the road today, I had to keep one eye shut just to see the road. My peripheral vision is gone, and all that is left at this point is pin point vision that is keeping me going. My fiance's mother was diagnosed with breast cancer about a month ago. She had surgery on Monday, September the 27th. The outcome was not as good as we hoped. It seems that the cancer has gotten into her lymphnodes, which means that it has probably spread through her body. She is undergoing treatment now, and could really use the prayers. She is a great woman of God, and has very high spirits. I ask that you just pray for God's will. I have no idea what that might be, but whatever it is has a reason. I ask that if it is her time, that the family can stay focused on God and continue in their walk. Of course, I ask that we all pray that God would touch her with His healing hand. A friend of mine, Jeff Morgan, is leaving on a mission trip to Turkey in the morning (Saturday, Oct. 23). He's going with a group called Servant Group International (SGI). SGI is an Islamic-outreach mission agency based here in Nashville, TN. They are taking a group of people over to the earthquake devastated lands in Turkey. They are going over to help build shelters for people who are without any place to stay.
Jeff and the rest of the group will be leaving tomorrow and will be gone for 2 weeks. They will be coming back on November 6. Here are some prayer requests that he would like for us all to pray about:
1. That the Turkish Kurds we work with would see and be affected by the
love of Christ in us.
2. That this might be the beginning of an ongoing work there... SGI works
with Kurds in Nashville, Iraq, and Germany. Turkey would be a major
compliment to the Kurdish church in Iraq.
3. For safe travel... and safety at the site and our quarters. It's a
pretty dangerous place still from the aftershocks, etc. And there are
folks over there who don't want people to help the Kurds, especially
Christians.
Also, please pray for their flights. They leave tomorrow from Nashville -
then land in Detroit - then Amsterdam - and then they finally arrive in
Istanbul 17 hours later!
On the way back on November 6, it's the same thing but in reverse order.

Praise report on Jason Sears: Jason is still continuing his program at Newhouse in Santa Barbara, but has graduated to Phase 2. That allows him to work and to have less random drug testing and also less curfew restrictions. As everything, there is a pos and neg to this, but I am optomistic and trust in God. I am concerned as to Jason's acceptance of God as his Saviour. I attempted, to quote a scripture the other day to which his aggiatated response was, PLEASE don't start in on THAT again. I am confidant that I have not pushed God on him, but I know the importance of his redemption and salvation. My mother's heart continues in prayer for him, because I know God is working mightly in his life. I want it ALL for him and his....
I got my right foot run over and broken, as well as nerve, tendon, ligament, and muscle damage etc. etc. Then this past year I have had to put my weight on my LEFT foot, which in turn has been hurting REAL BAD lately because of the bad posture this has caused. Anyway, I ALREADY take TWO different types of Blood Pressure meds THREE times a day, just to keep my BP NEAR normal. And my momma died at 35, so this DOES scare me. Anyway, it gets even higher when I'm in severe pain, and yesterday, being our first REAL Cold/Damp day, my feet were killing me. I came in, had a headache, dizziness, blurred vission etc. etc., so I asked Billie to take my BP for me. It was 180/120, So she took me
straight to the ER. I got there and they put me on a heart monitor, then they got REAL busy when TWO other ppl coded (died) and had to be brought back to life, as well as a car wreck. Anyway, when I DID see the doc, I told him I thought it was pain related, so he gave me a shot of demerol/phenergan, and sure enough, in 15 min, it was down to 156/89. They watched me a little longer, then released me, however, as I write this letter it is about 160/112, and I'm worried about it and ask for your thoughts and prayers on this matter. I have to go to my reg. doc to see what can be done if it don't come down.

I wanted to update you on my friend Nicholas' condition. I receivedword four days ago that Nick came out of his coma, after attempting suicide last week, and is now recuperating in the hospital. It is clear that this suicide attempt failed. Praise God. But, on the heels of this news I got word that emotionally, Nick is not any better. In fact, it was feared that Nicholas may attempt suicide again once given the chance. He is at THE bottom right now.

I am sad today, and yet at the same time rejoicing. God took my brother home to be with Him yesterday. I sorrow, but not as those who have no hope, for just the other day, my brother told me that he was prepared to die. My prayer request is that God will be with his wife and children and extended family, that through his death many will be reached with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.While we will miss him, we are confident that he in now "safe in arms of Jesus."

I received a call this morning (10-19-99) from a frantic mother. Her son Chris, age 17, ran away last night and she was trying to find my daughter who is one of his friends. I do not know this family and have only met the boy a couple of times. I asked her if I could pray with her and she accepted the offer, so I did pray for her and her family over the phone, then spent about 45 minutes in my own prayer time praying for
them. Please, pray for this mother, her name is Sherry, and her son that the boy will return home and that there will be restoration in that family relationship.
A friend father of mine is going through open heart surgery tomorrow (10-20-99) and the out look is not good. I am not sure of his definite relationship with God, but I pray that he will give his heart to the lord if he hasnt already, and for a successful surgery and that God will lift up his family and give them the strength needed to get through this.

my friend Kathy just called and said her grandson, Braeden, who is three months old just got back from his 3 mo checkup. This doctors said that his head is growing faster then his body. They ran some test on him with more to be ran later but they think he will have to have a metal plate put into his head. Please pray that God will heal him. Also, Kathy is a diabetic. Her classification was a "brittle" diabetic. She went to the doctor yesterday and he told her that she is now "insulin resistant" and they can't do anything else for her. Please pray for her also. Yes, it has been one of those days - what can I say. As of today I have effectively quit my employment (resigned) from U.S. Pawn, Inc. due to personal reasons and abuse from my supervisor. After 7 years of abuse by him I just was not able to continue with him. The only possible answer for continued employment with U.S. Pawn would be the possibility of being transfered fully out of that department into one where I am not faced with his abuse. This would have to come directly from the CEO of the company.
Please I ask prayer that the CEO will see the effectiveness of this or that in God's grace that he will direct me to an employer that through God can use the talents and gifts that He has given me. He choose to have the surgery on his knee so he could play out in yard with little Mason. Two days after the surgery he developed a breathing problem. He had been in ICU for about a week, then they moved him in a regular room. He started improving. This morning, back to ICU. The sad thing is they can not seem to find out why, what is wrong. His body is shuting down. He can not talk.

In 1987 I had a heatstroke while I was having my NS training in Brunei while I was having my training there and the doctor there try to resuscitate me with a lousy respirator resulting in a scar in my windpipe . so the doctor of Singapore had hobson choice but to put me in trachy that mean I have to breath through a hole at my neck instead of through my nose thus I have lost the ability to speak . Now my father has to do the dressing for me everyday . Inspite of my disability I can communicate with my friends through computer and letters in the form of paper and email because I have lost my abilty to speak... I feel that the Lord has put me to be in this present situation for His purpose but is well with my soul and I will praise Him . In 1996 I was blessed with a computer from my former classmate and now I can communicate... My prayer needs are that our Lord will Strength my back muscle and stop my leg from trenbleming Enable me to speak . Enable me to write . Enable my right hand to function properly To recover completely. I want to share this testimony with all of you to encourage those of you who are under going dffficulties in your personal life to look to Jesus who loves you and who will heal you when you call upon His Name.

Please continue to remember the Australian and British soldiers in E. Timor. They ahve moved into an area where the Indonesian Army's gangs of gunmen are still active and almost daily slughter in the most brutal, inhuman ways. The gangs are heavily armed with semi-automatic assualt rifles and other light infantry weapons, and their leader is the one who has made all the threats to kill Aussie soldiers. So far there are about 200 of them with the leader training others for guerrilla attacks against them. Also pray for the terrorized E. Timorese. Praise God, that some of the E. Timorese - mostly women and children - have been returned by the Indonesian Army from W. Timor. Continue to pray for the other 250,000 held against their wills and threatened with death if they express their wish to return.

Please continue to pray for the Australian solidiers in particular and the peace enforcers in general as well as the E. Timorese who are coming out of hiding. The "militias" have upped the stakes greatly.
A group of them ambushed a squad of Australian soldiers Wednesday inside E. Timor and 2 ambushers were killed for their efforts. Two of the Australian soldiers were wonded seriously (one missing death/disability by a matter of 1/2 centermeter). They are expected to recover fully in time. But this is the beginning of what the "militias" promised to do. There will probably be more of this kind of activity from now on. Pray for the safety of the soldiers and the safety and security of the E. Timorese people. Also pray for the return of over 250,000 E. Timorese being held by the Indonesian Army and "militias" in W. Timor and islands around E. Timor. The "militias" have accellerated their murder/terror campaign against them with no way to know how many they have murdered so far.

But his present job afforded him the use of a van for free and this second job does not offer that. He uses the van to drive ppl to and from church each Sunday. today, and is deteriorating rapidly. Her family has been through some very tough times. About 15 years ago, Stacey's only daughter was diagnosed with brain cancer. She lived a very long 19 years from diagnosis, a time perios only God himself could have provided. She died about two years ago, and
about that time, Stacey was diagnosed with lung cancer. Stacey has a loving husband, and two sons. One of the sons is already married with children, but her youngest is very much in trouble. He is such a wonderful kid and has a huge heart. I am praying for him and spend as much time as i can around him. We have a good repor together, and I am trying to get him to do Christian things with me.

baby Natalie Jade was born on September 21. She is my uncle's first grandchild. She was born perfectly healthy but in the early morning hours of September 23 she had a heart attack. She was rushed to Children's Hospital in Dallas, Texas where the family was told that her heart is unhealthy. Her kidneys are not functioning at this time. I don't know the exact circumstances of her condition however I do know that they have told the family that nothing can be done until they get her kidneys functioning. She will require heart surgery soon and more surgeries later and possibly have to have a transplant at some time.
Baby Natalie is a precious angel, a beautiful gift from God. My uncle T, her grandfather has asked that prayers be sent up for his little angel grandbaby.

I ask for your prayer support for a women that I work with at my job. Her name is Jeanne and she's 35, and a single parent. She came to me about 2 weeks ago with concern on her face. She said that
she had found a lump under her arm pit about the size of a small ball. It came from no where. About a week later another lump appeared in almost the same spot. She got a dr. appt. and went on Monday of this week. I saw her Wednesday and asked what the dr. said. With almost tears, she said that she had to go to the hospital on Thursday "tomorrow" to have more test ran. I told her that I would get some mighty prayer warriors to be in pray about these lumps. She is a JW, and I want to show her the love of our God ! Please also ask the lord to use me to bring her to the truth !

Uncle Tom (Smitty) had to have emergency surgery Thursday night for a ruptured hernia. He is still in ICU but is doing well and will more than likely come home in a couple of days. You see my rent is not here.My lawyer "forgot" to send the right paper to sign so I could have the check which is more than sufficient ..but sat on his desk for a week. I have never paid the rent late..it will cost $50 extra without a miracle but I HOPE for that miracle My new job..whatever God has for me has not appeared. But there is HOPE :) My son Tanner DID get taken to the dr.yesterday praise the Lord and he did get the antibiotic he needed. HE now has HOPE...of getting well and not feeling so terrible anymore. The Lord is working on his father I know because his father is NEVER nice to me and he is being nice now. Pray this man will get the mental help he needs.He has a wonderful Christian girlfriend who deserves a man who does not have these problems. There is HOPE for my future and I know God willbring me the right man .I have so abused so long I don't know how to be loved now.But there is HOPE in Christ. So thank you for praying. 4 years ago, a good friend of mines mother, Susie, had a mastectomy to remove breast cancer. After a grueling battle with chemotherapy, she went into remission and everything looked good. Well, a few months ago, she got pneumonia, and when she went to the doctor, it seems that the cancer has come
back with a vengeance. She now has it in her liver, her lungs, her ovaries, her kidneys, and in her eyes.

I would like prayer said for my father-in-law. He has been having a lot of migraine headaches and had a hard time getting in to see the doctor. His first appt with his Dr, and now they want to run immediate blood tests and MRI scan. They moved his follow-up appt to this coming Tuesday from the end of October. They found something in his head. I just pray that whatever they have found will be curable. Give him the strength and courage to get through this appointment. He is very worried. My husband is his son and he is very worried too. Please pray for peace in this situation, whatever the outcome may be.

May I take this moment to ask for prayer again for my friend Lorraine... She is a young mother of 3 suffering from intestinal cancer. She had surgery 5 weeks ago for this and now the xrays show that she has cancer of the liver... Lorraine will be going into "lockdown drugy therapy" this next Tuesday for 19 days. She is very very weak and some days can not even make it to the restroom on her own. She can not take care of her family nor can she even prepare food for herself. Her husband (who is unsaved) will go out and get food for himself but not bring her home anything to eat. She is starving literally. She said even if he did bring home food she doubted she could even eat it but now her husband is going to leave her as he says he needs to figure out what to do with his life. He has asked for a divorce. She has a desperate 15 y/o son who has born the brunt of his fathers anger and last week ran away from home and has quit school.

My Grandma Doris is in the hospital she is 86 years old and it is very unlikely that she will be leaving the hospital. She has been blessed with a relatively healthy life up untill the last year or so. Her kidneys have been failing and she gets blood tranfusions every couple weeks because her bone marrow quit producing. She is in the hospital with pneumonia and not responding to IV antibiotics though she has had three different kinds. The Doctors feel it is now leukemia and that it has settled into her lungs. If this is the case she may not make it. I am not even sure if my Grandma is a Christian or if she has asked God to forgive her for any sins she may have committed in her lifetime.

I am traveling to Toronto with some ppl this Tuesday until Sunday. Please pray everything goes well and that we are all blessed and kept safe during traveling. we are attending a xtian conference.
2. For Sally who has an allergy problem and this has brought on her asthma. she gets depressed because she tried everything and isn't getting any better. she has three children to take care of. She also feels oppressed in some areas. satan also has been feeding her fear.
3. For Deb who needs to get the address of her son to get welfare or something like that which I still do not understand. this family needs loads of prayers.
4. For Chris, that God will convict her of her sin and draw her and Pete to him in a saving way, for them to get straightened out with her daughter in foster care and loads of other problems. They have been living together for 17 years and have been on and off with heroin and other drug problems. I know if they got saved God could use them in mighty ways for the kingdom.
5. For Jeff to be saved from his heroin use and to come back to God. He is a Christian but got hooked back on heroin.
6. for my mother to be healed of arthritis.

Earlier this afternoon, I found out that a friend of mine named Amanda was attacked yesterday afternoon on her way home from work. (She lives right across the street from where she works.) Her Mom told me that she is okay physically, but she is very shaken up. This man still has not been caught. Would you please pray that this man is found and that Amanda will be okay. I will keep you updated on how she is doing as I hear more.

I've checked the website and found about Robert---It seems I forgot to put the most important part which was prayers for his soul and for mercy from the courts on October 7-----Thanks to everyone who will utter a prayer in his behalf.
(Org req: Robert (Tompson) is in serious trouble. ...he has been working...everyday and has gotten married. He has changed his lifestyle and I believe will make a good citizen now as we have eliminated drugs from his life. The next (court) appearance is October 6. I just found out a friend of mine passed away this morning (Wed.) Licia, and I ask prayer for her sons and family and friends, she was a beautiful woman, she has been fighting cancer for a long time now, and I am thankful to God she is no longer suffering, please pray for his strength and guidance and love to feel all their hearts as they go thru this rough time, thankyou all.

Please Pray for my brother, he is about to move in with this girl. He knows that this is moraly wrong, but he is going to do it anyway. Also pray for his children, they are 5 and 9 years old, and they don't

Thank you for all your letters & your many prayers for Johnny & myself. God has really shown us in the past 2 months, what "depending on Him" really means! He has provided our needs in such amazing & wonderful ways, above what we even asked Him. We are drawn closer to the Lord each & every day and to each other also, because we have had to depend on each other for different needs throughout the days. I went to the Nephrologist on Monday & he is a wonderful kidney specialist from India. He says I have ALL the symptoms of "Hyperaldosteronism" & he wants me to go off all the Lasix (fluid pill) & the Potassium for 2 weeks. He wants to see HOW badly I swell up for himself & since my Heart checked out FINE, it won't be dangerous to do this.....just VERY uncomfortable for me. Also we will see how my potassium & blood pressure does. I have lots of Blood Work done on OCT. 8th .... then I go back to him OCT. 11th & he will start the other tests & xrays to find out if I have a tumor on the kidneys or the adrenal glands, OR some other form of Kidney disease.
PLEASE PRAY FOR ME.....I want to find out what the problem is and God has led me to a great specialist that I trust completely. I know I will be miserable before the 2 wks. is up because I have swollen so badly in the past that my ankles literally "burst open".
PRAY FOR JOHNNY ALSO.....He has been so supportive to me & encouraging me but he is still having lots of Chest Pains through all this ordeal with me. He takes his Nitro pills, then gets such a horrible headache, he has to take pain med. to help the headaches...
PRAY THAT JOHNNY'S DISABILITY WILL BE APPROVED SOON & FOR OUR FINANCIAL NEEDS.
CONTINUE TO PRAY FOR PASTOR J.D. MORRIS & SONYA. His blood counts have been LOW & they are very concerned about this. He may have to start taking the shots again but we pray that he doesn't have to do this. His Ministry is going great and God is really using both of them. This past week marked 1-year since he was first diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

God has opened the door for my family to be part of an organization that works with US military chaplains to bring a high quality youth ministry to the chapels. I will become the youth ministry director at the U.S. Naval Air Station, Keflavik, Iceland. Most of the funds will come from a contract with the Chapel, however, we will have to raise some support. We ask for prayer that God will raise up people to be a part of our support team, spiritually as well as financially. Lord willing, we plan to leave for Iceland near the end of November, beginning of December 99.
